Tripping through time and sailing across swollen oceans, dagmar EXO is emerging out of a song cycle about a guy who can't get out of bed in the morning and an insect goddess who plunges through the ether to rescue him.   Turns out, she's more than just a goddess.   It's 2050, on the lip of the end of the world as we know it, and the bugs are finally taking over.  Music, lights, cameras, action.  Time to celebrate.

EXO is the creation of Boston-based songwriter JIM BAUER, U.K.-based producer/musician ROBBIE BRONNIMANN, intrepid performance artist MEGHAN McGEARY, and New York City-based percussionist DAVID ROZENBLATT.   The project has been in development since 2006, starting as a six-piece "art rock opera" band, morphing into a two-person street and subway busking meta-folk duo with Bauer and McGeary, and most recently shape-shifting its way into the magical realism, classification-challenged, folktronica* world of EXO.  In patient service of the restless ultimate goal, three cd's of songs from the song cycle have been released along the larvae way:  "Door No. 1" in 2006, "Door No. 2" in 2009, and "Door No. 3" in 2010.

The unexpected transmogrifications continue, with expectations now that EXO could unfold its wings and emerge from the chrysalis any day now.  In the path from here to wherever nothing is ever anything until it's something, and everything, of course, not only wants to but needs to change.  Something or other will always make sense in one tick of the clock, one cycle of evolution or another.  It all makes about as much sense as anything else.  Of that, we're certain.

* FOLKTRONICA:  [n., folk + electronica;  attrib. Jill Atkinson, ca. 2010] an experimental, non-rational blend of meta-folk and sub-electronica styles of music developed in the first part of the 21st century in New England and Old England by James Bauer and Robert Bronnimann, respectively, for reasons that are still unknown and will likely never be revealed.
